Guides for ConnectWise PSA cloud partners: reporting, Power BI connections, API access and workarounds when you have no direct SQL access.
ConnectWise has no concept of an invoice split between the E-Rate program and the school. What an E-Rate invoice has to show, where to store the details, and the math, including the sales tax exception.
Occasionally, I have clients that have already closed an invoice with a different template and they want to reprint it with a new template. Or, they want to test out new invoice template layouts with existing invoices. Here is an easy way to create an alternate custom invoice PDF template link on the ConnectWise PSA […]
Updated October 2026: moving from on-premise ConnectWise to the cloud? Direct SQL access works differently there. See Moving ConnectWise to the Cloud Without Losing SQL Access for what changes and how to get it back. There are several guides out there for setting up an API-based connection to your ConnectWise Manage/PSA data in Power BI. […]
If you’ve been using ConnectWise for a while, likely your invoice needs have changed over time. When I’m implementing a custom invoice template for a client, I’m often asked to help figure out which templates are actually used and how often. Then, when I build the NexNow template, we’ll usually try and consolidate things to […]
Clients often ask me if there’s a way to build a report that looks back on service board statistics over time. While some more complex questions will require either building your own historical database or paying for a 3rd party tool like Cognition 360 to do it for you, we can do quite a lot […]

In this post, I’ll show you how to create the matrix formatted HTML subreport in Report Writer that you […]
I’m not sure why I never thought of doing this before. Last week I set up a custom invoice for Brian Largent at Arclight Group and he asked if it was possible to dynamically display his product images in-line with their agreement additions, similar to how they display on his ConnectWise Sell invoices. Here’s a […]
A lot of clients prefer to have their negative numbers in parentheses instead of with a minus sign. I’ve used various methods to get around the lack of support for this display format in Report Writer by today I realized there’s a simpler way that can be applied universally. Rather than adding complex SQL logic […]
We were recently asked to build a report for a cloud partner that needed to see a summary of each employee’s time by pay period. The summary was to show total hours for certain PTO work types, as well as summaries of time by custom field selection. In addition, calculations needed to be made on […]
A recent post on the ConnectWise Enhancement forums asks ConnectWise to add the ability to receive login alerts. Specifically, they wanted to be alerted if anyone was logging in at odd times in the middle of the night. While Manage doesn’t have a wizard for this, it’s easy enough to set up for yourself in […]
