Combined (master) invoices
Send or print one invoice from the Invoicing screen, and the master template combines the line items of every current invoice for that company with a combined total. It can include the original ConnectWise invoice numbers for internal reference.

Do I need a custom invoice template?
Yes. These customizations only work with a custom invoice template built in Report Writer. If you’d like to keep your invoices looking familiar, we can build one that looks similar to the default ConnectWise invoice.
Can the invoice use our ConnectWise custom fields?
In most cases, yes. For grouping, we usually use ConnectWise’s built-in invoice groups, so you don’t need custom fields for that. Custom fields are there for everything else: pulling extra data onto the invoice, or driving behavior specific to how you bill. As long as the field has a logical relationship to the invoice, we can use it.
Will my invoice work the same as the default invoice?
Any custom template that displays a single invoice works exactly like the default: open the invoice screen, select your template in the drop-down, and print or email as usual.
How do combined invoices differ from regular invoices?
- Creation: select any applicable invoice to generate a combined invoice. All invoices from the same company in the same status are shown together.
- Regeneration: the setup is designed for current invoices. We can set up a process to regenerate master invoices, but we don’t guarantee it.
- Payment portals: combined invoices must be generated from the invoicing screen while all included invoices are open, so regenerating them from a customer portal isn’t practical. (Hosted invoices don’t have this limit: they remember which invoices were combined, so they can be regenerated from a portal later.)
- Size: there’s no set limit, and we’ve combined invoices with hundreds of line items, but very large invoices get slow and can hit Report Writer’s practical limits.
- Invoice types: there’s no set limit on how many types can be combined, though some combinations cost more to build.
